Samford University named Dr. Marlene M. Reed the Margaret Gage Bush University Professor. Dr. Reed succeeds Dr. Edward Felton, who retired earlier, as holder of the endowed chair in the Samford School of Business.
The appointment was announced by School of Business Dean Carl W. Gooding.
A Samford faculty member since 1981, Reed has been Professor of Entrepreneurship and Economics. She was named Alabama Professor of the Year by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching in 1994.
She is a member of the Council of Economic Advisors for the Birmingham Regional Chamber of Commerce. Reed lectures regularly on international business in Kiev and Kharkov, Ukraine, and Yerevan, Armenia. She has written numerous articles and case studies in journals and textbooks.
She is past president of the Southwest Case Research Association and of Network Birmingham and a board member of the North American Case Research Association.
